{"id":26188,"date":"2020-04-20T22:30:54","date_gmt":"2020-04-20T22:30:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rmolaw.com.au\/domestic-violence-the-covid-19-response\/"},"modified":"2025-02-24T05:14:45","modified_gmt":"2025-02-24T05:14:45","slug":"domestic-violence-the-covid-19-response","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rmolaw.com.au\/zh\/domestic-violence-the-covid-19-response\/","title":{"rendered":"Domestic Violence &#038; The COVID-19 Response"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>$5.5 million increased funding has been dedicated to domestic violence services to assist services to cope during COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>The statistics show these services need the support with a 75% increase in Google searches for domestic violence services and a significant increase in calls.<\/p>\n<p>The funding will be distributed as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\">$1.7 million for crisis accommodation<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\">$1.5 million for DV Connect (24-hour call centre)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\">$1.8 million for enhancing specialist services<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 115%;\">$500,000 for a communications campaign<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Di Farmer, Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence, stated: <em>\u201cWe know there are perpetrators who are now at home with their victims\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk stated: <em>\u201cI want people to know that they do have options, they don\u2019t have to stay in a violent household. We\u2019re boosting support for essential government-funded services, so people have someone to turn to and somewhere else to go if they need.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>There is also a new online reporting tool for victims of domestic and family violence to report abuse.
