$5.5 million increased funding has been dedicated to domestic violence services to assist services to cope during COVID-19.<\/p>\n
The statistics show these services need the support with a 75% increase in Google searches for domestic violence services and a significant increase in calls.<\/p>\n
The funding will be distributed as follows:<\/p>\n
Di Farmer, Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence, stated: \u201cWe know there are perpetrators who are now at home with their victims\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk stated: \u201cI want people to know that they do have options, they don\u2019t have to stay in a violent household. We\u2019re boosting support for essential government-funded services, so people have someone to turn to and somewhere else to go if they need.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n There is also a new online reporting tool for victims of domestic and family violence to report abuse.
