Dangerous Driving: 1 Woolworths Truck & 1 Wild Chase
A Woolworths truck failed to home deliver after it was stolen and taken on a 4 hour rampage across Logan.
The man drove a car to the Woolworths truck in Cornubia, jumped out of his car and then stole the truck.
Police detected the stolen truck on the Mount Lindesay Highway, with the chase continuing throughout the streets of Logan.
The man was under the influence of drugs and repeatedly evaded stinger devices and rammed police vehicles before being detained.
The incident was described by the police prosecutor as 1 of the most serious examples of dangerous driving ever witnessed.
The penalty in this case – the man was sentenced to jail for 22 months and disqualified from driving for 2.5 years.
What Is Dangerous Driving?
Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle is defined in section 328A of the Criminal Code 1899 which says “a person who operates, or in any way interferes with the operation of, a vehicle dangerously in any place commits a misdemeanour”.
