Roly O’Regan
Director
Roly is a Director of RMO Law and Team Leader of the Commercial Litigation and Criminal Law Teams.
Roly has over 20 years experience working with individuals and small to large businesses, from receiving instructions to resolution of the matter, on a variety of commercial litigation and dispute resolution matters.
Roly has a detailed understanding of the Queensland legal system having also practised for seven years as a barrister. Roly’s experience as both a barrister and solicitor has equipped him with a broad set of drafting skills and fine-tuned his ability to critically analyse clients’ issues.
Roly’s commercial litigation and dispute resolution experience includes but is not limited to professional negligence, business disputes (including partnerships), building and construction disputes, planning and environmental litigation, defamation, intellectual property litigation and property litigation.
Roly’s considerable experience, combined with his passion for developing effective strategies and solutions for his clients, ensures clients receive the best possible advice and representation in initial negotiations, pre-court negotiations and if required, court proceedings.
Committed to the community, Roly has also worked on a pro bono basis as company secretary role for Cystic Fibrosis Queensland and has served as a judicial member for the Queensland Cricket Conduct Tribunal for over ten years.
Roly is also an active member of the Queensland Law Society, Australia Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Australian Institute of Management.
Criminal Law
Roly has successfully represented clients in the Magistrates, District and Supreme Court on a range of criminal matters including drug-related matters, fraud, manslaughter, violent offences, corporate and white collar crime (money laundering, insider trading, bribery and breach of director duties).
Roly has a detailed understanding of the Queensland legal system having practised for many years as a defence barrister and also as a prosecutor with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions within the major crime unit. His experience as a defence barrister, lawyer and prosecutor enables him to identify the most appropriate strategy and build the best defence possible for his clients.
Roly is a strong, effective advocate for his clients and provides the best possible representation in bail applications, sentences, trials and appeals.
