Great news for Queenslanders.

Queensland borders will reopen on 10 July 2020 to all states and territories, EXCLUDING Victoria.

If you wish to cross the border you will be required to sign a border declaration form stating you have not travelled to Victoria.

Are you, or someone you know, currently in Victoria?

Chief Health Officer, Dr Jeannette Young has advised if you wish to return to Queensland to do so as soon as possible.

Any Queenslander returning from Victoria, FROM MIDDAY THIS FRIDAY, will be required to enter mandatory hotel quarantine or be banned from entering.

If you are required to hotel quarantine, this will be at your own expense.

What Can You Do From This Friday?

This Friday (3 July 2020) at 12 noon the Queensland Government will ease COVID-19 restrictions.

Changes for families, friends and the community include:

• Non-commercial and private gatherings with up to 100 people
• Weddings and funerals with up to 100 people
• Museums, art galleries, libraries and historic sites now allows maximum number of persons by the 1 person per 4 square metre rule
• Sport, recreation and fitness organisations must follow a COVID Safe Industry Plan:
  • Competition and physical contact now permitted on the field of play
  • Indoor sports can open with 1 person per 4 square metres (off the field of play)
  • Outdoor sports can open with physical distancing (off the field of play)

Changes for businesses and the economy include:

• Customers within business now determined by 4 square metre rule
• Smaller venues below 200 square metres can now have 1 person per 2 square metres (up to 50 persons at a time)
• Business listed below may reopen with a COVID Safe Plan in place:
  • Casinos
  • Gaming and gambling venues
  • Non-therapeutic massage
  • Saunas and bathhouses
  • Nightclubs
  • Food courts
• Office-based workers may return to their place of work
• Queensland’s major sports facilities (that have a COVID Safe Plan in place) can have up to 25,000 spectators or 50% of capacity (whichever is lesser)
• Convert venues, theatres and auditoriums can open and have up to 50% capacity or 1 person per 4 square metres (whichever is greater), as long as there is a COVID Safe Plan in place
• Events are back on with the following rules in place:
  • Fewer than 500 people – no approval required if following COVID Safe Event Checklist
  • 500 to 10,000 people – COVID Safe Event Plan required and must be approved by local public health units
  • Over 10,000 people – COVID Safe Event Plan required and must be approved by Queensland Chief Health Officer

You are still required to comply with 1.5 metre social distancing.
