Social Distancing Restrictions Could Be Lifted Within Weeks
Great news for Queenslanders!
Social distancing restrictions may be lifted within a matter of weeks.
The first places likely to have restrictions lifted include community sports, small social gatherings and retail shopping.
The key to having restrictions lifted include:
- Rate of spread of COVID-19
- Capability of national testing
Chief Medical Officer Brendan Murphy stated βThere is great concern that if we relax too much too quickly we could get a second wave as has been seen in Singaporeβ.
The βroad mapβ to lifting the strict social distancing rules does not include lifting bans on large events, weddings and international travel.
International travel will be the very last restriction to be lifted β with bans to be in place for at least 4 months.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison stated: βWe are on the road back and that is demonstrated by the measures that we already have taken and we are on the way back to a COVID-safe economy as well, which is what we have to achieveβ.
